Notes:

1. Abdicated
2. Deposed
3. Boisgelin, Vol. 2 p. xviii-xix. Boisgelin asserts that Duisson died no earlier than 1202 on the grounds that, according to Sebastiano Poli  [sic=Pauli] (vol I, p.98),  he featured as Grandmaster on a Charter dated May 1201. However, Pauli may have mistaken the identity of Geoffroy de Duisson for that of Geoffroy le Rat  1194-1210 who would have been Grandmaster on the date of the Charter. This theory is further strengthened by the fact the seals of both Grandmasters bore the same inscription  GAVFRIDVS. CVSTOS  and that surnames were used inconsistently if, at all, during that period. Duisson, for instance, is also known as Donjon or Donion, whilst Le Rat rejoices in Mus as alternative family name.

In fact, Geoffroy de Donjon de Duisson must have died after 1201 since he appears on Act of Donation dated 4.5.1201in which a "Cristiana, daughter of Ruggiero di Caisa, having been made a co-sister of the Hospital, donated to the same Hospital, a village called Digegni under confirmation of Roardo, then Lord of Caisas." 4. Abdicated 1286 but continued to govern the Order until Jean de Villiers arrival in 1288
5. Illegally deposed in 1317; reinstated 1322; abdicated 1323
6. Deposed 1317; formally abdicated 13.6.1319
7. Abdicated
